Don’t you find it interesting that when you pray to God over and over he gives you everything you didn’t ask for? Or maybe God is giving you exactly what you need.
Funny how that works!
For the past year I have faithfully prayed every day for the things I am grateful for. John, Johnny, Joey, Mom, Dad, Steve (♥), Linda, Jill, Brandon, Zach, (Mike too), Missy, John, Alyssa, Megan, Chuck, Pam, Bill (♥), Brad, Missy, Robby, Erin, Corinne, Jonathon, James (Jonathon too), Jeff, Steph and Trevor. I have asked God to watch over each of them and asked that his presence be felt so every deep in their being. I have asked God to protect my boys, watch over them daily, help them to make good decisions, and to always love deeply everyone they meet. I have asked for patience and understanding with my husband. I have asked God give my son time to know him again. These are all such simple things I have asked of God.
Five years ago, I was just asking to get through the day. To keep the house over house heads, our electric on, the water bill paid and to have gas in our car. Things have changed for my family and I. Together we weathered the storm.
As I have faithfully prayed for what I am thankful for, over the past year, I have also been extremely lonely in this journey of faith (as mentioned in, island of faith). I have longed for understanding and friendship. This loneliness was easily covered up by gratefulness. The things I have never said out loud and the prayers that have never been prayed became this quiet heaviness of my heart.
But God hears our heart doesn’t he? Even if we never vocalize our feelings, God feels our pain and answers the prayers we don’t pray for ourselves. God knows and understands what it is we truly needed. “And in the moments when you no longer think about the loneliness, you are no longer alone.”
Funny how that works. Thank You God!
