We never know what the week ahead will bring.  We go to bed every Sunday night knowing that in the morning we will wake up and continue on with another week of our lives.  We hope that each week will bring us something new and challenging and yet sometimes we want to just get through the week with nothing bad happening.

This past week has been extremely interesting and very intense for me.  I couldn’t even imagine on Sunday what the week would entail, but I can tell you it brought me many surprises and many disappointments.  It taught me that I can be calm in an extremely aggressive situation.  It taught me that I need to just “shut up” sometimes and it taught me that I need to relax my mind, body and soul.

For me, when life is good personally (home), things tend to be crazy professionally (work) and then vice versa.   Sometimes I feel the separation gap between work and home close in.  I am find it hard to separate the two and I don’t like the constant turmoil I feel inside when I am wrapped up in the drama that my professional life throws into my family life.  And this week I definitely witnessed “the boiling point”.

So even though the week brought some visits to the doctor, sickness, deadlines, loss, disappointments and “boiling points”, it also had the moments of complete surprises.  Like when you just learned that your youngest son learned how to tie his shoes from a boy at school, or when your oldest son walks into the room and puts his dirty stinky up your nose.  Or when you sit in the dr.’s office and your son makes a really loud “fart” noise with the chair and you laugh so hard you almost pee your pants.  When two old friends write you for advice and you hope that what you shared with them helped in some small way.  When you finally get your grades and you did pretty damm good, considering!  (“A” Into to hot glass, “A” History of Christianity, and “C” Religious Ethics)

When you don’t have a dime to spare but you keep digging and you find some old boxes with some lights in it for the tree.  When you stay up late to make sure your babies sleep well.  When you finished a book and it encourages you to keep “dreaming”.  When you complete the paperwork on time and you pray for a miracle.  When you take a hot bath, sit back and paint your nails, and watch the lights flicker on the tree (sorry guys, girl thing).  When you send a response and hope it works out.  When you seen your son create a warm place for a cat hoping the best for her and her kittens.  When you know your friend is now safe and secure in her new place and she can move forward with her life.

When you talk with someone you never really expected to on the phone and you find she is very interesting and you can’t wait to get to know her better.  When you receive an unexpected Christmas card in the mail.   When you hear very sad news about your cousin, but you see what a strong mother she has to help her through.  When you spend an hour just talking with your husband and you hear what his dreams are.  When you encourage your children to dream and they get excited about the possibilities.  And finally when you sit back, pray, and put it all in God’s hands.

I am not sure what the new week will bring, but I am hoping and praying that this week; the drama stays away, I continue to grow and learn, and that God shows me the way because we never know what the week will bring!

Luv, luv,

Julie
