There is a lot to be said about the ‘power of words’. They can tear a person down or bring them up. Motivate them to move forward or completely stop them in their tracks. Words can shock and surprise you and in some cases not faze you at all. Words can be full of wisdom and yet empty as a cold silent snow filled night. Sometimes the best route is to say no words at all. Martin Luther King, Jr. said “In the end, we will remember not the words of our enemies, but the silence of our friends.”
I most follow the philosophy of Buddha who said, “However many holy words you read, however many you speak, what good will they do you if you do not act on upon them?
I often think about the words Mother Teresa said, “Words which do not give the light of Christ increase the darkness.” We all have witnessed a lot of darkness in the world lately and I often wonder if people knew how to love would there be so much darkness? How do we teach LOVE in the darkness? By turning on the light!
Hate is easy and selfish. Hate is temporary, cancerous, and lonely. Love is forever. Hate empowers one. Love empowers everyone. Love is hard, forgiving, understanding, and outlasting. Hate bites back and destroys. Love moves forward and creates.
It’s seems really simple, yet we make it so hard. Imagine a country ran on nothing but LOVE. Sounds crazy I know. Impossible? Probably, but it is nice to imagine what our country, even our world, would be like if everyone had the same goal of genuinely loving each other and working together to make each other become the best possible person they can become. If our focus was the success of others, we wouldn’t have time to be selfish. Think about it! If our only goal, only motivation was to help others that means someone would be helping you.
I wish at times when hate fills a person I could climb inside them and hug their heart. I wish I could tell them how helping another changes the makeup of the inner self. How unselfish acts become dramatic changes in everyone’s lives. It all starts within you. A decision you make. An action you take. A word you speak.
What words will you speak today that will shine light into someone’s life? What will you act upon today that will show great LOVE? Who will you befriend? Who will you LOVE?
Luv, Luv,
Julie
