Scrolling through Facebook, I came across a friend’s post that stopped me in my tracks. It read:

“Be her. Be the woman who knows the grass is greener wherever she stands, because she brings value to every space she enters.”

Powerful, right?

This simple statement carries so much truth. To me, it’s really about self-worth and presence. It flips the old saying “the grass is greener on the other side” into a bold reminder that confidence, value, and fulfillment don’t come from external circumstances—they come from within.

But here’s the part that hit me: how do we live this out, day after day?

I’ll be the first to admit—I struggle with my self-worth. And when the weight of that struggle gets heavy, I’m really good at avoiding things. (Avoidance might just be my secret talent!) But the truth is, being “the woman who knows the grass is greener wherever she stands” isn’t about never struggling. It’s about building daily practices that make self-worth less of a thought you chase and more of a truth you embody.

Why It’s Hard to Live By

  1. Comparison Culture
Social media, work, even friendships—so often we’re lured into measuring ourselves against others. It makes it hard to believe our own “grass” is green enough.
  2. Old Stories & Wounds (my personal favorite, lol)
Most of us carry old narratives from childhood, jobs, or relationships that told us we weren’t enough. Living this out means rewriting those stories—sometimes daily.
  3. The Fear of Being “Too Much”
Have you ever dimmed your light because you were afraid it would overwhelm someone else? Yet this fear clashes directly with the idea of boldly bringing value everywhere we go.
  4. The Weight of the Everyday
Life can sometimes feel like a never-ending list of responsibilities. Even when nothing is “wrong,” the constant pace of doing and keeping up can leave you feeling drained. In those moments, it’s easy to forget that simply showing up still carries value.

What It Really Means to “Be Her”

Even with all these challenges, choosing to “be her” comes down to three powerful truths:

  • Your value is never conditional.
  • Your presence, skills, love, and energy have the power to transform the spaces and people around you.
  • And wherever you go—you don’t just blend in—you lift up.

When I remember this, it changes how I see myself and the spaces I walk into.

Ways to Practice Living It

Here are some small, everyday ways I’m learning to bridge the gap between the statement and reality:

  1. Anchor in Affirmations
    • Start the day with: “Where I stand is enough. Who I am brings value.”
    • Write it on a sticky note where you’ll see it often.
  2. Micro-Moments of Impact
    • You don’t need to change the world every day. Notice how a smile, a kind word, or simply showing up can shift the atmosphere.
    • Value doesn’t always roar; often, it whispers.
  3. Reframe the Ordinary
    • Making dinner? You’re nourishing and creating connection.
    • Sitting in a meeting? Your perspective may spark something someone else needs to hear.
    • Even the smallest presence has weight.
  4. Stop Outsourcing Value
    • The grass isn’t greener because of what others think. It’s greener because of what we bring.
    • When tempted to compare, pause and ask: “What value am I bringing to this exact space right now?”
  5. Compassion for the Struggle
    • Some days you won’t feel like “her.” That’s okay. Power doesn’t mean perfection—it means choosing to try again tomorrow.

Maybe “being her” isn’t about nailing it every day. Perhaps it’s about learning to see the worth we already carry, even in our most ordinary, imperfect moments.

I’m realizing the grass really is greener wherever I stand—not because life is perfect, but because I choose to believe that I bring something of value just by being there.

And friend, so do you. BE HER!

With love,

Julie
